Abingdon Studios is a contemporary visual art studios and project space based in the heart of Blackpool Town Centre. We recently established as a company limited by guarantee in Oct 2016.
We provide a space where both Blackpool based artists and visiting artists from further afield can generate new work, drawing on a rich and unique cultural landscape, in a supportive working environment that encourages dialogue, new ideas and risk-taking.
Abingdon is the only dedicated contemporary visual arts studio and project space facility in Blackpool, and we aim to be a core provider of talent development and nurture wider sector development for visual arts.
Our facilities consist of:
9 artists studios, Residency Studio, Graduate development studio, and Project Space. The venue has WiFi, daylight lighting scheme, kitchenette and bathroom facilities available.
Artists seeking a platform for dissemination, discussion and production of new work are encouraged.
Since 2014 Abingdon Studios has worked with key partnerships including LeftCoast, Blackpool Council’s Economic Development and Arts Service’ and Grundy Art Gallery NPO and Arts Council England. We also have a relationship with Blackpool & the Fylde College’s School of Creative Arts; in which we offer graduates temporary use of shared studio space.
We currently have a waiting list for studio space and our Project Space is available for hire in support of new work, showcases or events.
